DGP Reviews Maoist Situation in Balangir

Balangir: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay today reviewed the Maoist situation in Balangir district.
Accompanied by IG (Operation) Amitabh Thakur and DIG (SIW) Anirudh Kumar Singh, the DGP visited the district to take stock of the situation.

The visit took place in the wake of killing of a Maoist cadre in forest area near Junanibahal village under Khaprakhol police limits in Balangir district during an exchange of fire with the security personnel.

Based on intelligence inputs, a team of the Balangir Police along with the District Voluntary Force (DVF) conducted a raid in a forest in Junanibahal area last evening. During the raids, there was exchange of fire between the police and the Maoists, following which a Maoist was killed.

The police recovered arms and ammunition from the spot.

The DGP has praised the Anti-Maoist operations of the Balangir police.
