Berhampur: In a major breakthrough, the Ganjam police today arrested five persons in connection with the murder of former Beguniapada block chairman Debraj Sahoo.
The cops also seized arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested persons.
The seized items include three pistols, five magazines and 63 bullets.
Meanwhile, the police ruled out political motive behind the murder of Sahoo.
Ajay Barik is the mastermind of the crime, which was committed due to the past enmity, informed Southern Range DIG, Satyabrata Bhoi in a joint press meet.
The three teams of police was formed under the leadership of Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai to nab the accused.
Notably, 53-year-old Debraj Sahu was shot dead in full public glare on January 20 morning.
