Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration has organised the ‘Mo Gelha Jhia’ programme in Turubudi gram panchayat in Dighapandhi block to celebrate the birthday of newborn girls with much fanfare.
The programme that aims to narrow down the gap in child sex ratio in the district, has gained overwhelming response from the women and villagers in Turubudi.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, Aska Lok Sabha MP Pramila Bisoyi and Berhampur Lok Sabha MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu attended the programme and felicitated the newborn girls and their parents with baby kits, sweets and certificates.
Through this monthly programme, the district admin spreads awareness among the people about the importance of girl child and gender equality.
