India’s COVID-19 Caseload Jumps to 83.64 Lakh with 50,554 New Infections

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 caseload jumped to 83,64,086 with a spike of 50,554 new infections in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry.

This is for the first time in a week that the country had reported over 50,000 cases in a single day.

The total number of active cases in India now stands at 5,27,962 and recovered cases at 77,11,809.

The COVID-19 death toll mounted to 1,24,315 after 704 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 16,98,198 cases, including 44,548 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

Delhi witnessed a single day spike of 6,842 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest so far, taking the total Delhi tally to 4,09,938.
