Phulabani: A clerk in Block Education Office (BEO) in Kandhamal district was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The accused was identified as Chitaranjan Singh, posted as the head clerk at BEO, Daringbadi Block in Kandhamal district, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from complainant Siba Sankar Pattnayak of the same district to process his application under rehabilitation scheme.
The head clerk was trapped by the vigilance sleuths at his office room while he was accepting the money to process the application of Siba Sankar Pattnayak, who has applied for job under rehabilitation scheme due to death of his father in 2015, working as Asst. Teacher in Sraniketa NUPS under Daringbadi Block.
The accused head clerk is being arrested and will be forwarded to the Court, informed the vigilance department.
