Maha Stalemate: Focus Shifts To Delhi As Pawar to Meet Sonia And Fadnavis To Amit Shah

New Delhi: The shifting paradigms of Maharashtra politics took new turns with the two strong leaders of the state, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis visit Delhi today. This development comes amidst the deadlock that continues between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena on government formation after the recently concluded assembly elections.

In addition to this, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut along with other senior party leaders is scheduled to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyasri today on the political developments in the state.

Maharashtra needs to have a new government before November 9th or else there will be president’s rule imposed in the state. While the Shiv Sena is sticking to its demand for 50-50 formula in the state as agreed upon before the elections, the BJP has said there is no pre poll agreement on any such formula.

Both the parties are engaged in a war of words over the issue. Yesterday Sanjay Raut had claimed that Shiv Sena had the support of as many as 175 MLAs. In the recently held elections, the BJP won 105 seats while the Shiv Sena got 56 seats.

NCP and the Congress had won 56 and 44 seats respectively. In another development, MNS leader Raj Thackeray is scheduled to meet NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.
