Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to Odisha’s fight against deadly Coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi has permitted the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur to carry out COVID-19 testing.
MKCG has become the second medical college hospital in the State after SCB MCH to get the approval to do COVID-19 testing.
Expressing happiness over it, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said it will help in carrying out tests in southern part of the State, further strengthening Odisha’s fight against the pandemic.

Earlier, the Odisha Government had requested the ICMR to allow COVID-19 testing at MKCG MCH, Berhampur, VIMSAR Burla and IGH Rourkela in the wake of spike in the number of coronavirus cases across the country.
Currently, Odisha has three testing facilities at the Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
