Naveen To Lay Foundation For Kalinga Studio Redevelopment Project Today

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will today lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Kalinga Studio. The project involving an expenditure of Rs 200 crore is being taken up by the government to transform the old Kalinga Studio into a modern state of the art film production hub.

Situated on a patch of 26 acres land in the heart of the city, the Kalinga Studios complex managed by Odisha Film Development Corporation is one of the oldest film production units in the country. But due to several issues it was laying unused in the late 90s and early 20s. Currently it is getting a revenue of around four lakh rupees by giving services to small shootings. The redevelopment plan intends to transform it into a modern film production facility having state of the art equipment and other services which will generate sizeable employment to local people. Industries minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and Chairman OFDC, Kuna tripathy has reviewed the preparations of the redevelopment project yesterday before the foundation stone laying by the Chief Minister.

The project is divided into three zones with the first zone having facilities such as indoor shooting floors, shooting facades, central country yard, film tech zone, commercial space and cafeteria. The second zone will comprise outdoor shooting facilitates, shooting locations, theme-based shooting gardens, kids zones, castle view, snow world and adventure areas. The third zone would have food counters, vehicle boarding de-boarding and lodging facilities for the film crew and space for social and wedding functions.
