Odisha CM Appeals BJD MLAs to Extend Helping Hands to NEET-JEE Aspirants

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged all BJD MLAs to extend helping hand to the students appearing for NEET-JEE examination and uplift the morale of the COVID warriors in fight against Coronavirus.

Addressing his MLAs through Video Conferencing, Patnaik said, “Less than 48 hours are left for the examination. Children are the future of our country, the future of Odisha. Their safety is our responsibility. So the State Government has made arrangements for free transportation and accommodation so that the students can take the exam well”.

Urging the legislators, he said, do your best to ensure that children in your area take the test at convenience.

Speaking on Corona situation, Patnaik said, India is at the top of the world in corona infections today. In every two days, more than one million people are infected in the country. Our State is also facing tough time in fight against Corona.

Lauding the sacrifices and hard work of our Covid warriors and your cooperation, the State’s recovery rate is rising and the death toll is lowest which is good sign, Patnaik added.

You will be happy to know that five Covid care homes have been closed in Ganjam from today. The situation has improved there in Ganjam. However situation in Khordha and Cuttack not that good. I urge you to take care of yourself and make people aware, Patnaik said.

Speaking about migrant labourers, he said, one million of our brothers and sisters in other states have returned to Odisha due to the corona. You need to make sure that none of them are deprived of food security.

As many parts of the State are battling with flood situation, he urged the legislators to be with people during this difficult time.
He assured that the state government will provide all possible assistance to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Throwing light on the economy, he said, the economy of India, not just across Odisha, is going through challenging times.
