Odisha CM Bats For Location Specific Strategy To Fight Covid-19 In 4 Districts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today instructed officers to prepare location specific strategy to fight Covid-19 pandemic in the four districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Sundargarh and Rayagada.

After reviewing the Covid-19 situation, he told the officials that with location specific strategy, the positivity rate could be come down by next week.

Expressing satisfaction over the per day testing rate, Patnaik said with test rate of 1096 per million, Odisha has become the leading state so far as testing is concerned. He further asked the officials to strengthen the supply chain management of the testing kits.

The Chief Minister said that five Plasma Therapy Units have been set up so far. Plasma therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for Coronavirus. He instructed the officials to set up Plasma Bank at Koraput Medical College which is expected to start working by next week.

During the review meeting, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathi said that in ordered to further reduce the mortality rate due to Covid-19, the Directorate of Medical Education and Training has formed a Multi-Disciplinary Technical Team with professors from seven Medical Colleges. They have continued to work to make Covid treatment more effective by providing appropriate advice in this regard.

Over 50 lakh persons have been imparted training on Covid-19, which is a major achievement, Patnaik said.

To bring more transparency, he asked Covid-19 observers of all the districts to talk directly with the patients and doctors to get their feedback.

PK Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health, informed that a Plasma Storage Unit has been set up in Balasore for the treatment of Covid patients belonging to Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak districts. Additional Chief Secretary cum Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena also provided information on Corona management.
