Odisha DGP Appeals Maoists to Surrender and Join Mainstream

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Friday once again appealed the Left Wing Maoists to surrender before the Government and join the mainstream.

He also lauded the success of security forces against the Maoists in the recent past.

Speaking to media, Abhay said , “Odisha police has a series of success against the Maoists recently. We have set up the security post where there was no security check Malkangiri district to curb their activity. Recently we have neutralise as many as 5 Maoists in Kandhamal including area commander,” , he added.

With these success of the security forces, five districts of the state are going to get rid of the SRE( Security Related Expenditure) tag. The state government has approved the removal of five districts – Angul ,Boudh , Sambalpur, Deogarh and Nayagarh from the LWE affected SRE districts, he said.
