Odisha Govt Files Modifications Application in SC on Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has submitted a modifications application in the Supreme Court today and told Justice Arun Mishra single bench that it will endeavour to make necessary arrangements if Rath Yatra is confined to Puri alone in a limited way without public attendance as proposed by Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingha Deb.

The matter coming up in the Supreme Court today is based on the Odisha Government’s modifications application and Justice Arun Mishra referring the matter to the three Judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of India.

The reference to the CJI headed Bench for 2.30pm hearing is therefore entirely based on the Odisha Government’s modifications application filed by filed by Principal Resident Commissioner Sanjeeb Mishra on its behalf and not based on the 18 IAs filed by petitioners.
