Odisha: Hirakud Dam to Release Season’s First Flood Water Tomorrow

Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam reservoir in Sambalpur district will discharge the season’s first flood water tomorrow.

The process is expected to start at 10 am, according to the dam authorities.
Water level of the dam has increased due to the rainfall in the catchment of the reservoir.

As on 3PM June 23, the water level of the dam reached 614.79 feet against the full reservoir level of 630 feet.

The inflow of water into the dam was recorded at 63,951 cusec and the outflow 15,263 cusec, according to reports.

Last year, the dam authorities had released the first flood water from the dam on August 14.

Meanwhile, the district administration has urged the fishermen residing in downstream regions not to venture into the river for fishing after the release.
