Odisha to Add Additional 4,000 Beds in COVID Hospitals ; Ramp Up Testing Capacity

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to cope up with the increasing number of Coronavirus infections in the state, the Odisha government has decided to increase the bed strength in special Covid Hospitals by another 4000.

In an inter-ministerial meeting held today in the Lokseva Bhawan, it was also decided to increase the Coronavirus testing capacity in the state significantly by adding four new centers.

The government has decided to increase the capacity of number of tests per day to 15 thousand by June 15th. Four new medical Colleges will be equipped with the testing facilities which will start testing by the end of this month.

While Bolangir Medical College will start Covid testing on the 16th of this month, Koraput and Baripada will start Corona testing by 23rd and 31st of this month respectively. For this, OSMCL has been asked to provide all the required equipments.

The government will also give importance to testing facilities in private hospitals in the state, said, Health Minister Naba Das.
