Panchayat Polls: Over Hundreds of CPM, Congress Workers Join BJD in Ganjam

Gopalpur: In a further boost to the Biju Janata Dal ahead of the three-tier Panchayat elections, over hundreds of Congress and CPM workers have joined the ruling party in Gopalpur and Chatrapur Assembly constituencies in Ganjam district on Friday.

Inspired by the people-oriented transformative initiatives of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Congress workers from Nimakhandi GP in Gopalpur Constituency took the membership of BJD at a function.

In Zilla Parishad (ZP) zone number 10 in the constituency, stalwart Congress leaders like Premananda Sahu, Ex-sarapanch Gurunti GP, Bala Patra, Jagadalpur GP, Congress President, Kukudakhandi block, Purna Nayak, Ex-Samiti member of Gurunthi GP with hundreds of followers have joined the BJD.

BJD Organizational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das attended the programme through virtual mode.

Welcoming the new members to the party fold, he said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken the responsibility of Gopalpur Assembly Constituency.

To accelerate the pace of development in the constituency, Das has sought support from the grassroots workers of the party.

In his address, the BJD Organizational Secretary said that the joining of new members will provide major boost in the upcoming Panchayat elections.

He also urged the party workers to work hard to maintain the winning streak in the ZP zone 10 and other three ZP zones in Gopalpur Assembly Constituency.

OSD to Odisha CM Dr Gopabandhu Dash, Gopalpur constituency observer Ch. Bharat, BJD Rangeilunda block President Ajit Dash and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.

In another programme, the CPM workers in Bhuanbhuin village in Ganjam block in Chatrapur Assembly constituency joined the BJD in the presence of local MLA Subash Chandra Behera.
