Bhubaneswar: In a major success in its endeavor against drug trafficking, the Quick Action Team of the Commissionerate police today seized 300 grams of Brown Sugar worth more than 35 lakhs in Pahala. Acting on a tip off, the team members intercepted a vehicle in the outskirts of the capital coming from Balasore and seized the contraband. Five persons involved in the crime have been detained for interrogation.
In another incident, the Narcotics Control Bureau today seized 700 kilograms of Ganja worth around Rs 70 lakh from a truck at Godipada check gate near Khordha. The ganja was kept hidden in bags under stacks of coconut fiber and was being transported to Bihar from Andhra Pradesh. The driver of the truck has been arrested and officials are interrogating him.
