SAMBALPUR RAILWAY STATION DECLARED “NO PLASTIC ZONE”

Sambalpur: Sambalpur Railway Station has been declared as a No Plastic Zone from 28th August, 2019. This has become the second Plastic Free Railway Station in the country after Tirupati Railway Station.

On this occasion, a pledge taking was organised at Sambalpur Railway Station, on Wednesday where Staff and Officers of Sambalpur Railway Division led by Divisional Railway Manager Dr. Jaideep Gupta along with Station employees, Senior Citizens, School & College Students, Bharat Scouts & Guides, NCC Volunteers took pledge not to use Plastic/Polythine of single-use inside the Station premises and not allow anybody for single-use Plastic/Polythine at the Station.

A large number of Officers, NCC Cadets, Scouts & Guides, School Children, NGOs, Passengers, Vendors, Licence Porters, Safaiwalas and other Senior Citizens were present in the function.  Each group pledged not to use and not to allow the use of single-use plastic.

On this occasion, Dr. Jaideep Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur delivered an inspiring speech to all to stop usage of “single-use plastic” like polythene bags, plastic cups etc., at Sambalpur Railway Station, Railway Offices & establishments.  He also highlighted the adverse impact of plastics on the environment.

A rally was also organized consisting of Railway Officers, Staff, NCC Cadets, Scouts & Guides, School Children, NGOs, Passengers, Customers, Vendors, Licence Porters, Safaiwalas and other Senior Citizens led by Dr. Jaideep Gupta, DRM/Sambalpur to aware passengers, Rail Users and common public not to use plastic at Sambalpur Station.
