Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi has called all the media to hold restraint and be extra careful while reporting Corona issues.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet held at the Geeta Gobinda Sadan, the newly appointed Chief Spokesperson said, media has a role to be responsible. It is the best medium for the government to reach out to the masses. But journalists reporting the deadly disease like Corona should not take risks and put themselves in danger.
He asked all reporters to be extra vigilant for self and don’t worry for the breaking news. Now it is not the time for us to run behind breaking news. We have to inform and make people aware of the disease.
He also advised the media personnel not to divulge the names of the corona affected people or their family members.
We should not disturb the medical teams that are involved in the treatment of this deadly virus. Media should keep itself far from disturbing the medical environment. He also asked for restrain in taking reactions of the affected people. By going closer to the affected people can be dangerous for the reporters as they might also get affected. So, they should think of themselves and their families.
