Commissionerate Police Arrests Accused in Connection with Death Threat to BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the Commissionerate Police has arrested a person in connection with the death threat to BJD Rajya Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty.

A special squad of Commissionerate Police nabbed the accused identified as Kalia Barik from Gujarat, reports said.

 Barik hails from Khallikote area in Ganjam district. He is a mason and was staying in a rented house at Jhanjirmangala area in Cuttack, sources said.

He had allegedly threatened the BJD leader on WhatsApp demanding Rs 10 lakh.

 Anubhav, who is also contesting the Lok Sabha election from Kendrapara constituency as BJD candidate, had allegedly received death threat on April 30 from a miscreant, who had demanded the parliamentarian for Rs. 10 lakh via a WhatsApp message and threatened to kill him, in case the latter fails to pay the amount.

The BJD leader lodged a complaint at Purighat police station.
