Dist Admin Swings Into Action As Two More Cases Reported From Puri
Puri: The Puri district administration has swung into firefighting mode after two more positive cases have been reported from the district. The two new cases were reported yesterday and the infected people belong to West Bengal and were staying in a sea side colony in Puri. While the area has been declared containment zone by the district administration, provisions for all essential commodities will be facilitated by it.
A health department team has been formed for active surveillance of the area and regular check up of the people in the said area. The area which has a number of hotels is being sanitized by the administration. According to District Collector Balwant Singh, the persons who were detected positive yesterday were in home quarantine, but they had violated the norms, hence legal action will be taken against them.
Both of them were asymptomatic and contact tracing has found their contact with 5 to 6 persons. The positive persons have been sent to Bhubaneswar Covid Hospital for treatment. Now we have made provisions for 21 days institutional quarantine. We have to also take precautions both inside the containment zone and outside it.
The Collector also requested the people of Puri town not to panic and also maintain social distance norms and wear masks. He also said people should inform the administration if any outsider comes to the district.
