Bhubaneswar: The first meeting of the core team of the 20 members SIT (Special Investigation Team) formed to look into all angles related to the disproportionate assets case involving tainted IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak was held at the Vigilance Directorate today.
The detailed investigation plan was drawn up and notices under Section 160 Cr.P.C. will be soon issued to people acquainted with facts and circumstances of the case to appear at Vigilance Cell for their examination and recording of statement. This will include bank officials , forest officials , relatives , employees , associates etc.
The firms from which costly vehicles have been purchased will also be examined . The sources of assets and investment channels are also being probed.
During the searches, voluminous records and documents have been seized which are being thoroughly scrutinized by the SIT to gain further leads in the case . Assistance of State Forensic Science Laboratory is also being requisitioned.
The Odisha Vigilance has formed a 20-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the alleged possession of disproportionate assets by IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.
“A 20-member SIT has been formed to thoroughly investigate all aspects. Addl. S.P., Vigilance Cell is investigating the case under close supervision of SP and DIG, Vigilance Cell. Services of Cyber and Cell Phone Forensic experts are being requisitioned for retrieving mobile and computer related data from the seized devices,” the Vigilance said in a release.
The vigilance has found in possession of disproportionate assets of Rs 9,35,42,594 beyond his known sources of income (435% of total income from all known sources), which he could not account for satisfactorily, a release said.
