Odisha: Two More Gates of Hirakud Dam Opened

Sambalpur: Hirakud dam authorities here today opened two more gates to release the excess floodwater from the reservoir.

The gates were opened due to increasing inflow of water into Hirakud dam following incessant rain in the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi River, sources said.

Now the floodwater is being released through four gates to maintain balance at the reservoir.

The water level of Hirakud dam stood at 625.75 ft against total storage capacity of 630 ft by 10.00 am this morning. The average water inflow into the dam was recorded 91,349 cusec and outflow was 53,230 cusec at 9.00 am today.
